Bleh—it can be so annoying when something you depend on becomes unreliable. But no worries! Here’s how to change your Hyundai
key battery. First, you have to find out what battery you need and buy it. Most Hyundai key fobs will use a CR2032 battery, but you should check your owner’s manual to be sure.
The next part will vary a little depending on the year of your Hyundai. If you have a newer Hyundai, take apart the key fob like this:
Press and hold the metal tab or button to remove the metal key
Insert the metal key into the small opening on the back cover and turn it to open the case
If you have an older Hyundai, open the key fob like this:
Find the small notch on the casing
Insert something flat (like a flathead screwdriver or a coin) into the notch and turn it to pop the case open
The next part is the same for older and newer Hyundais.
Very gently, lift the circuit board to expose the battery
Take a photo of the battery’s position so you don’t forget it
Replace the battery with the new one
Reinstall all pieces in reverse order
That’s it! You’ve changed your Hyundai key battery, and it should be working again.
