Should I get my Toyota RAV4 lowered?

I saw a lowered Toyota RAV4 in a parking lot the other day and thought it was the coolest thing on four wheels. I’d love to do the same to my ride, but I’m not sure about how it would affect my car. Should I get my Toyota RAV4 lowered?

We can’t tell you exactly what’s best for you, but we can show you some pros and cons. Aside from aesthetic value, here are some upsides to a
Toyota RAV4
lowered:
Pros
  • Increased wheel traction for better handling
  • Reduces the weight of the vehicle
  • Less likely to flip or rollover in an accident
As beneficial as some of those pros are, when you lower a RAV4 you’re not just lowering the car itself, but potentially its resale value:
Cons
  • More likely to damage the underbelly of the car
  • Expensive (up to $5,000) to lower—and it’s not covered by many insurance policies
  • Can cause the tires to wear out unevenly
  • Makes for a bumpier ride
We hope this helps you decide whether or not to get your Toyota RAV4 lowered! Lowering your car can be a big decision, but lowering your monthly
