You can pop the hood of your Pontiac Vibe
in just a few easy steps: Locate the hood release lever in the car cabin, just below the steering wheel.
Pull the hood release lever fully, or until you hear a click and the hood raises slightly. With the hood popped a couple of inches, you’ll now be able to access the safety latch.
Exit your car and move to the front of the hood. Under the center edge, you should be able to feel a safety latch.
Press the safety latch until it opens, then prop the hood open with a prop rod.
And that’s it—you’re ready to get to work on your Pontiac Vibe!
Know that if you haven’t popped the hood of your car recently, the safety latch may give you some trouble. If it seems stuck, you can use a WD-40 or another water-based lubricant to help loosen it up. If that doesn’t help, there could be a problem with the hood release cable (a relatively common issue in older Pontiac models).
