Consumer Reports Failed To Recommend Full-Size Trucks From Ford, Chevy, and Ram

According to Consumer Reports (CR), the answer is an emphatic ‘No." None of the most popular
pickup models
from these three brands are recommended by the watchdog. When compared toe to toe, Ram fared better than the other two, but even in first place, the Ram 1500 received a measly 63/100.To be fair, pickups don’t tend to do well under CR’s rating system. The truck with the best rating, the Honda Ridgeline, only received an 80/100.
The Chevy Silverado, Ford F-150, and Ram 1500, compared
The 2021 Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, and Ram 1500 are easily the best-selling trucks in the U.S. For almost 40 years, the F-150 has outsold every vehicle in the country. But that doesn’t mean they’re the three best trucks on the market.
Consumer Reports compares all three of them for performance, comfort, and safety. While the F-150 earned points for its hybrid powertrain and standard safety features, the Ram 1500 ultimately came on top. CR says it does a better job of blending the utility of a pickup with the driving experience of other vehicle types.
Yet despite edging out the F-150 in this list, even the Ram fails to achieve a recommendation. None of the three trucks are predictably reliable enough to receive CR’s stamp of approval.
The Honda Ridgeline: CR’s only (truly) recommended pickup
Even though Consumer Reports isn’t generally very nice to pickup trucks, one 2021 model received a relatively good score—the Honda Ridgeline.
The "civilized" pickup boasts a rust-proof, scratch-resistant bed, a long list of standard safety features, and the most car-like driving experience of any other truck on the market.
It might not have the work-horse towing capacity of an F-150 or Ram 1500, but CR says Honda aimed it "squarely at the actual needs of most pickup owners."
