How do I let air out of my tires?

I added air to the tires on my Kia Optima for the first time and totally overinflated the passenger side tire by mistake. It’s kind of bulging. How do I let the air out of the tire?

Well done trying this yourself—three out of four ain’t bad! It’s sometimes hard to know when a tire has enough air, and some people even think overinflating tires improves car performance (it doesn’t). Luckily, letting air out of tires is easy.
Here’s how to let air out of your tires.
  1. Find the valve you used to inflate your tires and unscrew the cap
  2. In the middle of the valve is a small metal pin. Use a screwdriver or pliers to push down on the pin. You will hear air escaping
  3. Using a pressure gauge, check the tire pressure frequently to ensure you achieve the recommended pressure, as indicated in your owner’s manual or on the sticker on your driver’s side door. For your
    Kia Optima
, this would be 34 pounds per square inch (psi)
  4. Once ideal tire pressure is achieved, replace the valve cap
If you are completely deflating your tire, you will want to
jack up your vehicle
to avoid damage.
It’s a good idea to invest in a tire pressure gauge and
check your tire pressure
at least once a month to prolong the life of your tires.
