How do I figure out the size of my car speakers?

During my commute home yesterday, I turned my music up and one of my speakers blew out! I don’t think I could stand only hearing music from one side of my car for very long so I need to get a replacement. How do I figure out the size speaker I have in my car?

Oh no! Only
hearing music
from one side of the car would drive me a little crazy too.
Measuring your car speakers to find out their size can be a little confusing, but we’ll simplify it here with a step-by-step approach:
  • Step 1: Remove the panel on your car door that is covering your speaker. If your speakers are in the front or the rear of the car, you might not have any panels to worry about.
  • Step 2: Unscrew the speaker from its lodgings and lay it on a flat work surface so you can measure it accurately.
  • Step 3: Measure the mounting depth of your speaker. The mounting depth will be found from face to tail if the face is where the sound comes out and the tail where it sticks in the mount.
  • Step 4: Measure the height of your speaker. The height is found from the bottom of the speaker’s mount to the top of the speaker’s mount.
  • Step 5: Measure the diameter of your speaker. This is an important measurement because new speakers will usually have the diameter measure in their name. The diameter can be
    found by measuring
straight across the middle of the speaker’s face.
Once you’ve completed those measurements, shopping for a new speaker should be easy! And with
