Installing new spark plugs is pretty simple and certainly can be done for much cheaper on your own. However, as with any car repair, if you are uncomfortable working under the hood of your car, you should leave it to the pros.
If you choose to go it alone, here’s how to change the spark plugs on your 2007 Honda Civic. First, gather these tools:
A ratchet and an extension attachment
Anti-seize lubricant or copper grease
Then, in a well-ventilated space, follow these steps:
Open your hood
and locate the spark plugs. If you’re unsure where they are, consult your owner’s manual.Remove the high-tension leads from the plugs by gripping them at the bottom and pulling them out with gentle force. Use a system to remember their order; they will have to be put back in their proper places.
Use the socket wrench and 5/8-inch attachment to gently remove the spark plugs.
Add your anti-seize or copper grease to the threads of the new spark plugs and put them into their housing. Be careful not to over-tighten them as it could cause damage.
Reassemble the high-tension leads in the proper order.
Now that your spark plugs have been changed, you can enjoy better fuel economy and some extra cash in your pocket. If you’re interested in saving even more money, check out the Jerry
