How do I cancel my car insurance renewal?

I’m trying to cancel my Progressive insurance, but I think it’s set up to auto-renew. Is there any way I can reach out to cancel it?

Good question!
Canceling your Progressive auto renewal
can be done by following a pretty straightforward process.
Unfortunately, you can’t cancel your Progressive insurance policy online, as easy as that may be! The company requires that you give them a call instead. Once you’ve connected with an agent over the phone, here’s what to do:
  • Provide the effective date of cancellation
  • Give the information for your new insurance carrier
  • Inquire about getting a refund on your premium if you paid in advance.
The good news is that Progressive does not charge a cancellation fee if you terminate your policy early. Just make sure you have signed onto a new policy with another carrier before you set the termination date for your Progressive policy—a lapse in coverage can place you at risk when you get behind the wheel, and it’s illegal to drive without insurance in most states.
