How can I remove a car I donated from my insurance policy?
How can I remove a car from my insurance policy? I donated my car to a friend who was down on his luck. I have a new car and wouldn't have gotten much for my old one at the dealership anyway.

Since you are no longer in possession of the vehicle, you will want to remove it from your insurance policy right away. You can usually do this by calling your insurance carrier or making an update on your mobile insurance app.
Any time you donate or sell your car, make sure to remove all personal information from the vehicle. This will include things like:
Insurance ID cards
License plates
Registration and inspection stickers
Personal property
Check with your local DMV to make sure you follow all local plate and tax requirements. You will also want to make sure that you sign the car’s title over to your friend so that he is the legal owner of the vehicle.
