Matte black is a really cool, sleek look for any car. For that reason, it can be pricey to get done professionally. Luckily, it’s not too hard to DIY.
Start by washing your car thoroughly or taking it to the car wash. Avoid waxing the car afterward; it will make painting much harder.
Sand down the current paint to remove any imperfections, then rinse the car with a hose. Give it at least two hours to dry. Do not use towels to speed up the process.
Next, apply the primer to the car’s body in a well-ventilated area (preferably outside). Wait at least 90 minutes for it to dry completely. After that, apply black urethane paint. Let it sit for 24 to 48 hours.
Then, spray the car with matte black paint, moving across the car horizontally. Allow 20 minutes to pass before you add on a second coat and then a third. Allow the paint to cure.
While you’re waiting for the paint to dry, make sure that your car and its new paint job are adequately covered by your car insurance
policy. If you feel that you could have better coverage or that you’re paying too much, check out the Jerry
