How big of a windshield crack can be fixed?
How big can a windshield crack get before it can no longer be fixed? There’s one in my windshield that keeps spreading. I was hoping to have it repaired. It’s so big now, though, that I think I might just have to replace the windshield.

How big of a windshield crack that can be fixed by auto glass technicians are three inches long or shorter. Any bigger than that, and the crack becomes irreparable. For radiating cracks or chips, the damage must have a diameter of no more than one inch—otherwise, it will be beyond fixing.
Hopefully, your crack is smaller than that. If not, sadly, you may need to have the entire windshield replaced before the crack spreads any further.
Make sure to check your car insurance policy before your pay for any repairs out-of-pocket. Depending on the terms of your policy agreement, your insurance company may or may not be able to pay for the windshield repair.
If you discover that your insurance doesn’t cover the repair, then it may be time to revisit your policy—you might be able to find equal or better coverage for a much lower price if you use
