Does my Moped need insurance in California?
I live in Bakersfield and I just bought a Moped and plan to drive it this summer. Do I need to get insurance on it?

, you don’t need to carry Moped insurance. However, you are required to register it with the DMV, as you need special license plates and an ID card to operate it.Also keep in mind that California requires you to have a motorcycle license to legally drive it as well.
Although Moped insurance isn’t required, you should still consider it. Even just having

can significantly reduce your financial risk. If you get into an accident and injure someone or damage their property, your liability insurance would cover it.Most people drive Mopeds to save money during the warmer months, so you likely don’t want to end up paying more because you didn’t have insurance.
