Does GEICO require rental car insurance?

If I have GEICO as my insurance provider, do I need to purchase rental insurance through them? Am I already covered?

GEICO
doesn’t require
rental car insurance
. In fact, you may already have coverage through your current policy.
Most car insurance policies extend coverage to rental cars, meaning any coverage you have on your policy would apply to a rental car.
If you were to purchase rental car insurance through GEICO, it would be
rental reimbursement coverage
, which covers a rental car if you get into an accident and need a temporary vehicle.
The main reason to purchase supplemental rental car insurance is if you need additional coverage than what you already have. There may be other benefits, too, such as lower (or no) deductibles and not having to file a claim with your insurance company.”
