Does comprehensive insurance cover damage done by someone else?
Will comprehensive cover the damage to my vehicle if I don't know who caused it? My car was hit in a parking lot. I don't know who it was, but I do have comprehensive insurance.

Comprehensive insurance covers damage done from perils other than collision, such as:
- theft
- vandalism
- damage from weather
Since your vehicle was hit, it would be considered a collision.
For coverage, your insurance company will likely require
collision insurance
, as this provides coverage for any collision-related damages. While your insurance company may not cover the damage under your comprehensive insurance, you should still verify that with them. They’ll be able to advise you on which coverage you will need to have the damage covered.”
