Do I need to carry proof of insurance in each of my cars?
I have multiple cars insured on one policy. Am I required to carry a different insurance card in each vehicle? Or can I just keep a card on me showing that I have insurance, regardless of the vehicle listed? Could I get a ticket for doing this?

“New Hampshire and Virginia are the only two states where you’re not legally required to have insurance. This means you don’t need to show proof of insurance if pulled over.
In any other state, if you are asked to show proof of insurance, you are required to show the insurance card that lists the vehicle you are in.
Even if they could verify the vehicle’s coverage with your insurance company, you’d still most likely get a ticket. You’d then be required to show the court proof of coverage if you wanted to get the ticket dismissed.
Many carriers like
Progressive
and GEICO
allow you to access your ID card electronically. Many states have also passed laws that allow you to use electronic ID as acceptable proof of coverage.“
