  1. First, take your foot off the gas and let your car slow down a bit on its own.
  2. If you need to slow down further, press the clutch and use your gearshift to downshift to the next lowest speed.
  3. Carefully ease your foot off the clutch.
  4. You should feel your car start to slow down. If you need to, repeat this process to shift into an even lower gear.
