Does Budget allow you to travel out of state with a rental car?
I want to rent a car to take a road trip. I live in California and am planning to drive to Utah. Will Budget allow me to take a rental car out of state?

“You should be able to drive your rental car out of state. However, you should check the terms and conditions of your rental agreement before leaving. Fortunately, most Budget car rentals also have unlimited mileage, so you don’t have to worry about how far you’re driving.
Budget also requires notification when you travel across state lines. Since every state has different insurance requirements, your rental car needs to have the proper
car insurance
before crossing the border.Since you’re headed from California to Utah, you shouldn’t have any problems. For future reference, here are some of Budget’s driving restrictions:
- Car rentals in Hawaii must stay on the island where they were rented
- Most Budget Alaska locations require the vehicle to remain in the state
- Budget Las Vegas locations only allow out-of-state travel to Arizona, California, and Utah
- Depending on availability, you may book a one-way rental to other U.S. cities.
Since you’re traveling out of state, make sure that you’re covered by your car insurance, your credit card, or your rental car insurance. If you’re not, you may want to compare rates using the
