Do non-moving violations go on your driving record?

Being cited for any violation is never ideal, but non-moving violations do not go on your driving record.
What most people don’t realize is that non-moving violation tickets are issued to the owner of the vehicle, not the driver who was given the ticket. They can be given for minor violations like faulty headlights or not wearing a seat belt.
While a non-moving violation won’t affect your insurance or driving record, in certain states, you will not be able to renew your license if you have unpaid tickets. For example, if you are cited for a non-moving violation in one state but have a license from another, be sure to check the state laws around license renewals.
