You can turn right on a red light in New York, but there are a few conditions. Most importantly, you must first come to a complete stop like you would a stop sign. Then, check that there are no posted signs at the intersection disallowing right turns on red.

Running a red light is extremely dangerous and can result in a collision—both of which can drastically increase your car insurance rates.
