Can you flat tow a 2021 Chevy Colorado?
I recently purchased a 2021 Chevy Colorado, but I want to upgrade to something a bit bigger. I listed the truck online and found a willing buyer, so I offered to bring it to him even though he lives about 300 miles away. Can I flat tow a 2021 Colorado?

You can flat tow a 2021 Chevy Colorado, but only if it’s the four-wheel-drive variant.
The two-wheel-drive (2WD) Colorado can only safely be towed via a flatbed trailer, so take that into consideration if you’re selling a 2WD truck.
If you have the four-wheel-drive Colorado, you can always consult your owner’s manual to learn more about the towing process, but for the sake of ease, here’s a quick rundown:
- Position the vehicle being towed behind the tow vehicle, facing forward and on a level surface.
- Attach the vehicle being towed to the tow vehicle.
- Apply the parking brake and start the engine.
- Shift the transfer case to neutral.
- With the engine off, leave the key in ACC mode to prevent the steering column from locking.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable at the battery.
- Shift the truck into park.
- With a foot on the brake pedal, release the parking brake.
- Keep the ignition key in to prevent the steering column from locking.
