Can my auto insurance policy be canceled because of my roommate's bad driving record?

I just got an email from my insurance company saying they will cancel my policy because my roommate has a suspended driver's license. I never let her drive my car; this doesn't seem fair! What can I do?

“When an insurance company offers a policy, in most cases they need to have all people of driving age listed on the policy. Anyone in the home is a potential risk who must be underwritten and rated for.

Don’t worry, though, you may have options! If your roommate has her own policy, send a copy of her declarations page to your carrier. They may give you the option to exclude her as a driver from your policy.
