Can I put Windex in my vehicle’s washer fluid reservoir?
I’m running low on my windshield washer fluid in my car and don’t have any extra stored up. Could I just use Windex to fill my car’s washer fluid reservoir?

Time for a trip to the auto store! The short answer is no, you can’t put Windex in your washer fluid reservoir. Here’s why:
- Ammonia is often found in Windex products and can leave your windshield streaky or with a glare. It could also ruin your glass’s tint!
- Windex contains chemicals that can be damaging to more than one part of your vehicle including the washing system and your car’spaint job.
- Windshield washer fluid is formulated to resist freezing in the cold, while Windex is not and may freeze in your fluid reservoir, causing another set of problems.
So all in all, it’s not a good idea to replace your
windshield washer fluid
