Now that 2023 models are rolling out, we’re looking for a new SUV. I like the look of some of the new Mazdas. But are Mazda SUVs reliable?

Only time will tell how Mazda’s 2023 SUV lineup fares, but if the automaker’s history gives us any indication, they’ll likely do quite well considering the brand’s solid reputation for performance and reliability.
According to RepairPal, Mazda has an overall reliability rating that’s above average. The SUV models fall right into that range, with the
Mazda CX-3
and
CX-5
both earning 4.5 out of 5 stars for an “Excellent” reliability rating. The
CX-9
earned a 4 and the
CX-7
got 3.5 stars, which is still considered “Above Average” by RepairPal.
The SUV lineup has also earned several spots toward the top of J.D. Power’s Best Cars and Trucks of 2022 rankings. Here’s where Mazda’s contenders landed:
  • Mazda CX-9: 4th in Best Midsize SUVs of 2022
  • Mazda CX-30
: 4th in Best Small SUVs of 2022
  • Mazda CX-5: 4th in Best Compact SUVs of 2022
