What's the minimum level of home insurance coverage I should get?

I want the right home insurance for a reasonable rate. What's the bare-minimum coverage I need?

You want to make sure you are at least covering the rebuild cost of your home. This way, if your home is destroyed, you are able to build a new one with the same kinds and quality of materials. You don’t want to have to downgrade because you didn’t have enough coverage.
If you want to adjust your premium because you think you’re paying too much for coverage, I recommend raising your deductible. This is a good option if you’re unlikely to file a claim and you have enough money saved up to pay your deductible in the event of a loss.
