Is it okay if I cancel my auto insurance for six months while I’m away from home and my car?
I'm going out of state for about six months and I won't be driving my car. I don't want to pay for insurance when my car will just be sitting in my garage for half a year. Is it okay if I cancel my car insurance for these six months?

Thanks for your question! You can typically take the insurance off the car, but when you start a new policy it will be more expensive because you’ll lose your discount for having continuous insurance coverage.
A better alternative would be to just lower the coverage to the state minimum for what’s required and then raise it back up when you take the car out of storage. Furthermore, there are a few companies that offer a pay-per-mile program where if you drive less, you pay less, and this could also help to lower your insurance payments.
