Do you pay for home insurance monthly or yearly?

I'm doing some research into home insurance since I plan on buying my first house. Are insurance payments made every month or year?

If you are paying out of pocket for your home insurance, you can set up monthly payments or pay for the policy in full. However, if you are buying a new home and do not have your insurance included in your mortgage, it’s typically preferred that you pay a full year in advance. After that initial year, you can try setting up monthly payments for your insurance.
If your home insurance is included in your mortgage, the lender pays it out once a year and you pay monthly. A monthly installment for your insurance and taxes is included in your mortgage payment; the lender takes the money and puts it in your escrow, and then they pay out your insurance and taxes once a year in full when they are due.
