In the world of hypercars
and megacars, there are so many out there to look into and admire. However, Koenigsegg stands out, as being one of the first to make a megacar and some of the fastest cars out there. The Koenigsegg Agera R made headlines when it became one of the fastest cars in the world
in 2011. Only 18 units of this car were made, and at the time they sold for $3 million and given their rarity they have most certainly appreciated in value. The impressive specs on the Koenigsegg Agera R
The Koenigsegg Agera R is an astounding megarcar with the specs to prove it. The rear wheel drive vehicle has a 5.0-liter 32 valve V8 twin-turbo engine and a seven speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The Agera R gets 1,150 hp and 885 pounds per feet of torque and the revs are 3500 rpm. It can get from 0 to 62 mph in 2.9 seconds and 0 to 200 mph in under 18 seconds which blew and continues to blow any competition out of the water.
The top speed of the vehicle is still no joke, even today, hitting 260 mph. The Koenigsegg Agera R can brake to a full stop from driving at 186 mph in 6.6 seconds. What’s even crazier is that a Koenigsegg test driver did just that without even holding the steering wheel.
Design of the Koenigsegg Agera R
This vehicle was made with weight and aerodynamics in mind. Coming in at only 3,163 pounds with fluids included, the car was revolutionary for the time.
The Agera R is curvaceous and smooth with a double-bubble roof, which may look a bit ridiculous to some.
However, when the Koenigsegg
Agera R was still just an idea Christian von Koenigsegg was inspired by the shape of a dolphin. With only the best design in mind, the car took over 10 years to be finally conceptualized and built. The Agera R’s body was created to make 661 pounds of downforce at 155 mph with a flat bottom and venturi tunnels to help it stick to the ground.
From the dihedral synchro helix doors, to the rear LED lights that have indicators the finishing touches on the car are *chef’s kiss*.
When it comes to the interior there are high-tech digital LCD screens on the console and instrument panel.
