iX3, as well as other impressive vehicles. It’s true, they made product placement memorable and look good. This article contains spoilers, so read at your own risk.
Shang-Chi and Katy, pro valet parkers: a surprisingly big plot point
It’s no surprise this movie focuses so heavily on cars.
The story begins, after all, with Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) and his best friend Katy (Awkwafina) as valet parkers.
And valet park they do. Before they skid off normal driving territory and into, well. Marvel’s level of driving skills.
The early fight scene that takes place in a swerving bus is probably the best bus fight scene you can find.
The fancy fighting choreography is amazingly combined with a (debatably successful) attempt to drive the bus through the hills of San Francisco.
Interestingly, hilariously, or tragically, depending on your point of view--Marvel showed multiple empty i8 plug-in hybrids get rolled over and graphically destroyed in this scene.
The BMW iX3 saves the day
Compared to the BMW i8 that gets squashed by a bus, the BMW iX3 has a much better fate.
The stylized iX3 Awkwafina drives in the movie lets the party make it to Ta-Lo through the labyrinthine forest that wants, quite literally, to devour them.
The full-electric iX3 is a very efficient SUV. It’s meant to be pragmatic, so it goes a long way on relatively little electricity, while also being quiet.
If you mash the pedal on this SUV like Awkwafina does, you’d notice 282 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. It has a limit of 112 mph, though it certainly looks faster in the movie.
The downside to this EV is that it does not come in four-wheel drive. And, perhaps disappointingly, it doesn’t have many design changes despite coming out after the rest of the BMW X3 lineup.
If you aren’t picky about having an SUV that has the absolute latest specs and sleekest design, the iX3 could be a car for you to consider.
