What happens to your driving license when you reach 70?

Do you have to do anything specific when you renew your license at age 70? I live in California and I’m turning 70 next month and I know that I have to renew my license, but I’m not sure what that process entails.

Happy early birthday! Every state handles aging drivers in its own way. In the state of
California
, you’ll have to renew your driving license in person once you reach the age of 70. The DMV will administer a written test and eye exam that you’ll have to pass in order to keep your license.
Additionally, in California, doctors are also required to report certain medical conditions that could affect your driving abilities. This means that you could have your driving privileges revoked if you are deemed a dangerous driver by a doctor or DMV representative.
You might also see an increase in your car insurance rates as you get older. To make sure you’re still getting the best deal, download the
