"Will my insurance cover damage done to a rental car in the event of an accident? "

"The car rental place offers insurance coverage for an additional fee, but I already have an auto insurance policy. Is the coverage offered by the car rental place a waste of money or should I buy it?

“If your personal
car insurance
policy includes comprehensive and liability coverage, then this will typically be extended to a rental car within the US. But you should call your insurance company or agent to confirm what type of coverage for rental cars is included in your policy.
Also, you have to consider the value of your personal vehicle and a rental. If they’re more or less worth the same amount of money, then your personal policy will probably provide enough protection. But if the rental is worth significantly more, then you should consider buying the extra coverage offered by the rental company.”
