Trampolines are typically okay with most carriers, especially if policyholders take the right precautions with them. Insurance companies get worried about trampolines because of the liability. If someone jumps on your trampoline (even without your permission) and gets hurt, they can sue you and your insurance would cover the medical payments and lawyer fees to go to court.
If you do get a trampoline, then in addition to obtaining a safety net, you need to make sure it is secured properly to the ground. You are also going to need a fenced-in backyard — you need to make sure people cannot walk onto your property and jump on the trampoline. With these precautions, the trampoline may have no effect on your homeowners insurance.
Then again, some carriers are known to raise premiums or even void policies altogether because of trampolines. It’s best to contact your insurance company and ask how a trampoline might impact your policy.
