Why would an insurance company drop you?
Would insurance really cancel our policy if we don't change the address after moving? My girlfriend and I moved recently and when we tried to change the address on our Progressive insurance policy, the rate increased. I think we should keep the address at our old place to save money, but she keeps saying the insurance company can drop us if they find out.

There are a few reasons why an insurance carrier can cancel your insurance and price dodging is one of them. By actively not changing your address, you are misrepresenting where you live.
Once
Progressive
receives return mail or a report showing you live at a new location, the underwriting department will send a reminder to update your address on the policy. If this reminder goes ignored, Progressive can change the address for you or cancel the policy for failure to respond to underwriting questions.
The most proactive solution would be to update your address and then ask Progressive for a policy review.
If you are still unhappy with your rate, you can always shop for more
affordable car insurance
