Why won’t my Nissan NV’s sliding door open?

My Nissan NV’s sliding door won’t open, sometimes it works, but other times it’s not responsive when pulling the exterior door handle or pressing the interior button. What could be the issue?

Oh no! We’re sorry to hear that you’re experiencing issues with your Nissan NV’s sliding door.
If your minivan’s automatic sliding door isn’t working, a component or wire is likely malfunctioning. If you have access to an OBD scanner and
you understand car OBD codes
, you can use it to read the door’s modules and diagnose the issue.
Of course, if you don’t have access to a tool like this, you’ll need to troubleshoot the old-fashioned way. We suggest starting by checking the wiring harness. Sometimes wires move enough to disconnect or even break. Look for frays and breaks, and then check the wires using a multimeter if possible.
If you don’t see an issue with the wiring, there are other reasons why the sliding door won’t open. For instance, a latch could be broken, the sensors could be clogged, or ice or dirt could be interfering with the door’s moving parts.
If you can’t figure out the issue by yourself, it’s best to take your
Nissan NV
straight to the
Nissan
dealer, where they can diagnose the problem quickly (and, hopefully, it’ll be covered by your warranty).
