If there is no RPM signal when the engine cranks, the problem is usually with the crankshaft position sensor. This sensor measures the car’s RPM, and the car won’t start if the sensor isn’t functioning properly.
Your car may refuse to start, or stall, intermittently if the crankshaft position sensor has a problem. The sensor can be tested using a multimeter or scan tool, but you need to take it to a mechanic to have the problem fixed.
