Believe it or not, problems with your regenerative braking are actually quite common after a tire change! That’s because your Tesla’s system takes time to recalibrate once you’ve swapped out the tires. Thankfully, it’s an issue that’s easy to resolve—driving your Tesla normally for an hour or two should be all it takes for your regenerative braking system to restore itself.
However, if problems with your regenerative braking persist, it could mean there’s an issue with your Tesla’s battery. Your regenerative braking system is meant to feed surplus power back into your car’s battery—so if the battery is already fully charged, or if it’s cold or failing, this may result in decreased regenerative braking power.
