“Most car insurance
companies would require you to get an estimate from a repair shop first and submit it to them. Then an adjuster would look at the damage and either approve or deny the estimate. From there, they’d work with the repair shop to come to an agreement. The insurance company should be working directly with the dealership. If that is not happening or if they can’t come to an agreement, you may need to find another auto shop to repair your vehicle.
Dealerships typically charge higher rates based on the more expensive original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts they use. Other auto shops are able to use a variety of parts and can charge lower prices.
Normally, repair shops don’t charge fees for estimates, so that is something to consider in the future as well. You should reach out to your insurance company to see what the next steps are.
