Why is my car sputtering after an O2 sensor change?

I just got my Honda’s O2 sensor replaced, and now my car is sputtering while I’m driving. What gives? Why would my car be sputtering after an O2 sensor change?

What a bother! The culprit is likely an issue with your new O2 sensor or another problem in your

’s fuel system.

An O2 sensor keeps track of the amount of oxygen in your engine. Without the proper ratios of oxygen and gas, your engine will not run efficiently.

A sputtering car may be a sign that your new O2 sensor is not working properly. The new sensor may be defective or could have been installed incorrectly.

The issue could be tied to a myriad of other reasons within the fuel system, however. There may be an issue with the fuel pump, the fuel filter, or the fuel injector.

While it’s a pain, you should head back to the mechanic and get this issue sorted out.
