Why is it better to insure multiple cars on one policy than having individual policies for each vehicle?

My wife and I each own a vehicle. Our agent recommended we have a single policy for both of us instead of two separate policies. Is there a reason why this is better?

Car insurance
companies offer discounts for insuring multiple cars on one policy, trumping the alternative of multiple policies, which wouldn’t give you the discount.
Depending on the carrier, you could save up to 20% on your car insurance policy with a
multi-car discount
. You’ll likely save more on a single policy than two separate ones and you’ll enjoy the convenience of a single payment each month.
Like with other insurance policies, shopping around can help you find the best and
cheapest car insurance
