Why is gas so expensive in Alabama?

I’m in Alabama for work and have rented a car to drive to sites. My company covers the cost of rentals, but fuel prices here are still out of control! Why are they so high?

If you’re looking to avoid paying an arm and a leg for gas, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a state with low fuel prices. Gas is so expensive in
Alabama
because of:
  • High crude oil prices
  • Limits on fuel supply
  • Increasing fuel demand
  • Summer travel
  • Fuel transportation disruptions
That said, Alabama actually has some of the lowest gas prices in the country, with an average of $4.484 per gallon for regular unleaded and $5.589 per gallon for diesel.
Regardless of the cause, you shouldn’t have to break the bank to fill up your car. Use these fuel-saving tips to reduce your consumption:
  • Check your tire pressure
  • Stick to the speed limit
  • Avoid heavy acceleration
  • Go hybrid or electric
