Why does my 2018 Toyota Tacoma cost less to insure than my 2017 Mazda CX-5 if the Tacoma cost more?
I have both a Tacoma and a CX-5. The Tacoma cost $10,000 more to purchase than the CX-5, yet it's far cheaper to insure. Why would a vehicle that cost more be cheaper to insure, even if they both have full coverage?

“The price you paid for a vehicle doesn’t have nearly as much to do with your policy price as you may think, especially if it’s not a super expensive or rare vehicle.
- Annual mileage
- Driving record
- Where you live
- Type of vehicle
It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that one’s more expensive than the other, especially if the CX-5 is classified as sporty. If you aren’t sure why there is such a discrepancy, call your insurance company to get a definitive answer.”
