Why do my passengers need to go through their own auto insurance for medical payments coverage?
I have medical payments coverage on my policy and I thought that it was supposed to cover my passengers as well. My insurance company is saying that they have to go through their own insurance if they have it. The at-fault driver was uninsured.

“In most cases,
medical payment coverage
is considered your primary coverage. If your passengers have medical payments on their own policy, their medical payment coverage would cover their injuries first. If they don’t have medical payments coverage, your policy would cover them. Health insurance coverage is considered secondary to this. Once medical payments coverage is exhausted, your health insurance or your passengers’ health insurance would cover any additional injuries or medical costs.
