Why do I need medical payments coverage for my motorcycle if I have health insurance?

I have health insurance and I don't see the point in buying medical payments coverage. I drive a motorcycle and my health insurance doesn't consider this to be a high-risk activity. Would this cover my health insurance copays?

“Even though you have health insurance, you can still benefit from

medical payment coverage

. Medical payments coverage will cover you even if you’re at fault.

While your health insurance company does not consider driving a motorcycle to be a high-risk activity, you are more likely to be injured while riding a motorcycle than driving a car.

Due to this increased risk, any additional coverage can help. If you have medical payments coverage, it can help cover your copays or deductibles.

It’s also less likely to require you to pay out of pocket. Your health insurance plan may require you to pay any bills and then submit claims to be reimbursed. This could create financial hardship until you’re able to be reimbursed.

You can never have too much insurance coverage. If you can afford to have medical payments coverage on your policy, you should consider buying it. “
