Why did my health insurance company deny claim after slamming my finger in my friend's car door?
"My health insurance initially paid for my medical bills when I broke my finger after slamming it in my friend's car door.
However, they recently sent me a bill and said they were denying my claim. They said I need to get in touch with my friend's auto insurance company. What will happen next?"

“Whenever an injury involves a car or motor vehicle, the claim needs to go through the
car insurance
company first. If you or your friend had medical payment coverage
or personal injury protection on a policy at the time of the incident, this would cover your injury. Health insurance is often considered to be secondary coverage. An auto policy should pay for the injury first since it’s considered to be primary coverage.
By submitting the claim to the car insurance company, you’re confirming whether they can pay your bills. If they can, they’ll reach out to your health insurance or doctor to settle the bills for you.
If there isn’t coverage on your policy or your friend’s policy for medical expenses, the car insurance company will forward the bills back to your health insurance. The bills would then be paid by your health insurer.
