Who owns a renter occupied apartment?

So, I know that I don’t own my apartment—I rent it from someone. But, I pay my rent through a payment service. I’m trying to figure out who actually owns the apartment I rent. Who owns an apartment that renter occupied?

All renter-occupied apartments are owned by a landlord. In smaller units, the landlord might live on the premises or even work as the super for the building. If you rent from a large company, which it sounds like you might, then that company is technically the landlord—meaning that the apartment is owned by the leasing company.
If you’re not sure which individual or company owns your apartment, just check your lease agreement. It should say exactly who you’re renting from.
