I’m a huge fan of Honda, and I have been ever since I bought my first car—a Honda Accord. However, I don’t know all that much about the history of the company. Where exactly was Honda founded?

Although many people falsely think that Honda was founded in Tokyo, its origins are much more humble. Honda was founded in Hamamatsu, Japan, a coastal city in the southwest of the island of Honshu. This city is currently home to 800,000 people, but more importantly, it was the home of Honda founder Soichiro Honda.
It wasn’t until decades later that the company finally moved its operations to Tokyo—the city where they remain to this day.
