Where is the OBD port location in a 2009 Hyundai Elantra?
I recently bought an OBD-II scanner, and I can’t wait to try it out on my Elantra. I don’t have any warning lights coming up on the dash, but I want to know where the OBD port on a 2009 Hyundai Elantra is located, so I’m ready when they do!

Points to you for being prepared! To locate the OBD port on your
Hyundai Elantra
, open the driver’s side door and squat down. Look above the driver’s pedals at the bottom of the dash. The port is about six inches from the left kick panel.Some OBD ports are exposed, while others have a plastic cover that you simply pull down. Then, plug your Onboard Diagnostics II (OBD-II) scanner into the port and power it on. Most scanners use your car battery to power the device, so switch on the car but don’t turn on the engine.
Press Scan and give the device a minute to run diagnostics. You’ll soon see Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) show up on the screen. Read the OBD codes to determine if there are any problems with your Elantra.
You might practice using the scanner so you’re familiar with its settings and features. Then, if a warning light appears on your car’s dash, you’ll know exactly what to do! Once you know what codes your Elantra is throwing out, you can make repairs yourself or take your car to a Hyundai service center for
