Where is the Ford Focus built in Europe?

I have a friend in the Netherlands who drives a Ford Focus but I don’t think Ford has a plant there. Where was his car made?

The
Ford Focus
is built at the Saarlouis body and assembly plant in Saarlouis, Germany. The plant began building the Ford Focus for European markets in 1998 and has added the Ford Focus Electric and the
Ford Focus ST
to its production schedule.
Since 1970, Saarlouis has turned out a variety of models:
  • Ford Escort
  • Ford Capri
  • Ford Orion
  • Ford Kuga
  • Ford C-Max
You can tell if your Ford Focus was made at the Saarlouis plant by looking at your vehicle identification number or VIN. It’s usually located in the upper-left dash area when you are seated in your car. The first three characters of your vehicle’s VIN are used to identify the country where it was made and can be numbers, letters, or both. Here are the ID codes for the countries that have produced the Focus:
  • USA: 1,4, or 5
  • China: L
  • Taiwan: RF–RG
  • Germany: SN–ST, or W
  • Argentina: 8A–8E
  • Thailand: ML–MR
  • Russia: X3–X0
