Now that you’ve located the OBD port, plug in your OBD II scanner and follow the instructions you received with the tool. Most scanners operate similarly, but some require the vehicle to be in “Idle” mode rather than “ON” while the scanner is in use, so be sure to check. After a few seconds, you should receive a list of “active” and “pending” error codes.
