Exhaust issues and variable fuel consumption are signs of a faulty fuel pump relay and something you’ll want to check out ASAP. The 2001 Hyundai Tiburon fuel pump relay is located in the passenger compartment relay box next to the ECM.
You’ll find this just above the center hump in the dash to the right of and below the radio. You will see five relays—two on the left, one in the middle, and two on the right. The one in the middle is the fuel pump relay.
