Where is the 1992 Honda Accord’s OBD port location?
My 1992 Honda Accord and I are thick as thieves, but it’s been giving me some grief lately. I want to run a diagnostic on it, but I don’t know where the OBD port is. Where can I find it in the Honda Accord?

is likely under the dashboard on the passenger side—just look for a blue connector.Cars made earlier than 1996 use an Onboard Diagnostics I (OBD-I) system, which is simpler than the current
OBD-II system
used in modern cars. Most scan tools do not work in OBD-1 cars. Instead, you’ll have to go to a Honda dealership or a certified repair shop to run the test.You can also run the test yourself, but that’s not always the best route—unless you are confident in your abilities. If you’ve got some mechanical skills under your belt, follow these steps:
- Pop out the blue OBD-1 connector, which might involve removing your glove box
- Remove the two-pin connector and find something to create a jumper between terminal one and terminal two on the connector (a piece of wire should do the trick)
- Turn your key in the ignition to the “On” position and see if your Check Engine light flashes
Long flashes indicate 10s, and short flashes indicate 1s. It’s tricky, so if you’re uncertain, take your car to a repair shop or dealership to correctly diagnose the issue. Best of luck to you!
